Thank you for your interest in becoming a participant. Our research is only possible with the help of participants.

By clicking on the button above you can register as a participant. We would like to ask you to complete a form with your personal data and language background. After completing this form, your personal profile will be added to our participant database. You can then sign up for experiments that you are eligible for. You may choose for yourself which studies you would like to participate in, either online or at our institute.

Frequently asked questions

Will I be paid for participating?

Participants receive a small amount of money for their participation in each experiment. We offer €2 per 15 minutes, with an extra €2 per session. For instance, you will receive €6 for an experiment that lasts 30 minutes, and €10 for an experiment that lasts 60 minutes.

After the experiment we will transfer the amount to your bank account. You will be asked to provide your bank account number (IBAN) upon registration. Your data will be handled confidentially. Please note that we are obliged to inform the Dutch tax authorities about payments.

What should I expect when coming to the lab?

On arrival, please register at the reception desk of our institute (Wundtlaan 1, Nijmegen). You will be asked to take a seat in the waiting area, where the test leader will pick you up.

Before the experiment starts you will receive instructions about the task. For example, you may be asked to name pictures, listen to words, or take a reaction time test. In some experiments we may measure your eye movements (with a special camera) or brain activity using EEG. This information will always be stated in the invitation.

Once you have been informed about the experiment, the test leader will ask you to sign a consent form. Most experiments last between 30 and 60 minutes. We will transfer the payment within a few weeks.

Why do I need to provide my bank account number?

We need your bank account number because you will be paid for participating. This way you can be paid automatically. We will ensure that your information remains confidential.

Do I need to speak multiple languages?

No, to participate in our experiments you do not need to speak multiple languages. You are not required to speak Dutch.

How do I unsubscribe from the list?

You can unsubscribe at any time, either by clicking this link or by sending an email to experimenten [at] mpi.nl.

How will my data be treated?
